Master Sergeant Ronald Peto, USMC Retired, died after a long battle with cancer at the Excel Greenbier, PA hospital 5 July 2010. .

Howard Rainer who was the Avionics Chief during the 1970-71 Med Cruise aboard CVA-66 America has just sent us notification via Mike Villarreal. Pete came into Trip Trey as a GySgt and was NCOIC of the Electric Shop. He was an outstanding Staff NCO. Later, during the South China Sea combat cruise, Pete came to work for Capt. Mike Villarreal as Maintenance Control Chief. He was soon promoted to  Master Sergeant and in the Maintenance Control capacity, he easily grasped his responsibilities and continued to perform in an outstanding manner. He was a Shamrock thru and thru and those that knew him and worked for him will be saddened by his passing.

He is survived by his former wife Alfreda and their daughter Pilita Peto Austin. They both reside in Magnolia, Delaware.
 
At Ron's request he was cremated in full dress blues. His ashes have been sent to the U.S. Navy Base Norfolk, Virginia to be scattered at sea. The family will be notified when this service is carried out.
